On 22nd May, the city witnessed the season's hottest day with the mercury touching 43.5 degree Celsius. According to the meteorological department, residents will have to face a few more hot days, as the temperatures are set to rise further. However, residents can expect some respite from the heat over the weekend.
Heat waves will continue to prevail during the day. Nights will be hotter, with a minimum temperature of 26.8 degree Celsius, which is four degrees above normal, department officials stated. City residents are advised to stay indoors during the peak hours of the day and consume a lot of water. People should also cut down on consumption of tea, coffee and alcohol.
